Sounds like I'm joking but I'm not.When I had a Subaru Legacy, you had to turn it to ON, then click and unclick the seatbelt 10x within 10 seconds, then turn the car completely on. Once that sequence happened, it turned of the chime until the computer was reflashed. I know this doesn't help, but hopefully there is a trick to fix the chime like with other cars. I believe the welcome chime is selectable deep in one of the menus. You can also select how long your headlights stay on after the car is off, locking and unlocking behavior, etc somewhere in those same menus.
