607 posts · Joined 2003. #1 · Feb 19, 2004. Advice on rebuilding my manual steering box. It is the only thing left in the engine bay and I am just about to paint the bay. When the car was driving it had some play in the steering, slight. A rebuilt box is $450+ and the power steering box is $1000. I want to go the route of best long term solution which is a rebuild but barring that I'm looking for advice suggestions.
