So you could use Dead Hard or Off The Record, then while in deep wound MoM will still activate. If I remember right Monto had a tough time with that build. It's easy if you get smacked as soon as another survivor gets picked up so you can make distance with tenacity. i too have been using a similar build, think i used unbreakable instead of flip flop. I am currently trying to make Mettle of Man work, main reason is that one challenge that needs you to take 3 hits and escape in one game, but also because I am looking for a new fun playstyle.
