I have noticed on my 2004 Chevy Malibu LS that the power steering tightens up randomly. Doesn't happen all the time. Seems to happen on the freeway and if I am making a hard turn. After a few miles it seems to return back to normal. The car has electric power steering.The short answer is that Chevy Malibu does have some problems with its poor steering, so much so that General Motors (GM) had to recall some of the 2004 - 2010 models.
